There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Its a 2006 AP1 Facelift. In the US you got the AP2, but over here in the UK we never got the full AP2 with its new F20C1. Instead we got the facelift but kept the ‘old’ 9000rpm F20C engine.
So far I had the car a little over a week and done around 650 miles, everything from back road blasts to motorway and even commuting a few times. I cannot express how happy I am with this car, it puts a smile on my face every time I clamber in (I’m 6’2, so its not an elegant process getting in and out). Its my first quick car, coming from a 1.8l Ford Focus so this is a properly special beast. The Vtec is just ridiculous, but you cant really go any higher than 2nd or maybe 3rd before your into prison speeds. It really needs to go on a track at some point, or maybe so Autobahns.
The thing I’m most impressed about is how capable it is at just being a normal car. Alright the suspension is very stiff and its quite loud, mostly because the roof is canvas, but actually its quite happy to commute to work, or be thrashed to within an inch of its 9000rpm redline. I will say the fuel bill is quite eye opening, with the most recent fill up suggesting I got 25mpg... whoops. Worth it though.
No pictures of the inside as its currently missing the radio trim whilst I sort out the replacement and get the wiring right. Plan is to clean and detail the car, then try and do a full photoshoot with it next weekend as I have the Sunday completely free, so expect some more shots then.

Last car you buy before you get a C6 ‘Vette. Enjoy it. I really dig the S2000.

Ha that is so true. The passenger gets nothing, not even a glovebox or anything. its all about the driver.

Awesome, hope you get good weather for that. Are you on the Indy or the full GP circuit?
Oh and Paddock hill bend, have fun. I have walked up to the top of it during a grid walk for something, and holy crap its steep when your standing there, can only imagine what its like in a car.

Luckily it’s not my first Rodeo, I did one in an V8 Vantage a couple of years ago and got to experience Paddock. It’s the Indy, I don’t think they do them on the GP Circuit. I experienced what could have been a hairy situation at paddock when someone exited the pits when I was approaching but it was all OK, they are usually sedate events because everyone is bricking it. I do get to experience dat Vtak power like you in the S2k which looks pristine by the way.

Ah so less fear and more knowing what your in for, thats rather awesome. Well have fun, although i’m not sure how you couldn’t in an Atom at Brands :)
Its got a couple of marks on it, but its a 9 year old car, and none of them are major, just a few stone chips and couple of chips, i guess from carparking. Mechanically (touch wood) its spot on, which is what matters and I can spend my weekends gradually bringing up the standard of the bodywork so should look fairly good once i’ve managed to spend a few hours relentlessly polishing it ha.
All about dat VTEK Bro! ha.

25 MPG and you feel like you caned it too much? Even if the engine is small, it’s also really highly strung, being low displacement and NA. Hell, my Miata got 27 MPG no matter how I drove on the road, and with that 9k RPM limit I bet you have to really get out of the low end on that car to move. Seems like it would be hard to conserve fuel.
Edit: Somehow missed that you were in the UK. My apologies on the fuel prices.

Ha yeah the first weekend I put very nearly £100 of fuel in it... worth it though. To be honest I wasn’t that shocked with 25mpg for the car, it was just a little bit of a shock coming from the Focus, which got 400ish miles and 38mpg from the tank.
If you want it to move yeah you have to get it up about 5/6000 rpm, its still pokey below that, but the high revs are where the power is.
